Ashwood Manor is a historic home-turned-business overlooking the town of Forest, VA. The land that Ashwood Manor sits on was originally owned by Thomas Jefferson and given to his daughter as a gift on her wedding day. The antebellum brick home was build that same year in 1790. Jefferson’s daughter, Martha Jefferson Randolph, married Thomas Mann Randolph Jr. who later became the 21st governor of Virginia. Martha Jefferson Randolph served as the first lady of Virginia as well as assisted her father as an informal first lady during his presidency since her mother had passed away. She and her husband had 12 children, and she is buried at the Monticello family cemetery in Charlottesville, VA.
